Leading graphic designer available now in CROWS NEST, New South Wales
I am a talented and experienced graphic designer with a wide range of useful skills, assembled over 30 years in the advertising, design and graphic arts industries. These skills include graphic design, typography, web design, copywriting, packaging, logotype design, high end Photoshop retouching and montage, advertising creation, design and production, radio and TV scripting, advertising music lyric writing, retail design and production, catalogue and brochure production, illustration and digital painting, 3D design and imaging, and many more.
Currently self-employed, I am interested in full-time, part-time, contract or consistent freelance work, with any employment opportunities ideally situated around the lower north shore of Sydney. I am willing to travel further for the right position, depending upon the circumstances and the opportunity. I am a reliable and responsible person with a strong work ethic, strive to produce the very best design outcomes, and am unafraid of long hours or challenging assignments. I am highly experienced in the Adobe CS application suite, plus a multitude of specialised illustration, painting, audio, video and design applications for the Mac.
Ian McPherson's background
I was traditionally trained in the advertising industry, and for many years operated as an art director and writer. This involved all aspects of art direction and copywriting, including photographic direction and new business concept creation and production. For a decade I operated as a creative director, writing and art directing many successful TV and radio campaigns. I was also responsible for many successful new business presentations using my TV, radio and lyric writing skills, including IPEC (Freight), Sanitarium Health Food (projects), Sunibrite Health Snacks and many more.
Awards won included a Gold Clio (for TV advertising) and Australian Award for Radio and Music. I also won a Supermarket Product of the Year Award for Sanitarium SoGood (soymilk), for which I designed the packaging and wrote and art directed the TV launch campaign. After years in the advertising industry, I decided to re-establish my own design studio, situated in Crows Nest. The studio employed up to 6 people. After another decade of that experience, I decided to wind down the business and operate again on my own. I now work out of my small SOHO office in Crows Nest, and service corporate and small/medium business clients across Australia.

Website skills
My website design skills include excellent Photoshop visualisations for new websites, and excellent design and production skills for any website elements produced in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. I also have reasonably good experience in Dreamweaver, BBEdit and basic CSS, low-level PHP and Javascript, and I generally code in XHTML. I am reasonably proficient at incorporating jQuery addons, and am currently studying CSS3, HTML5 and responsive design to understand them more fully. Flash, advanced PHP and other back-end coding requirements I leave to others. My skills are also reasonably good in Wordpress, with which I can build a basic business website very quickly (and affordably) indeed! :)
